Two Detentions Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident
An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.
A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, authorities confirmed.
These detentions follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.
A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later released.
Police arrested a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.
Police were called at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.
The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility for a short time.
